2nd Shift/Full-Time: Monday through Thursday - 3:15 pm to 1:15 am
With experience, make up to $89,600.
Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in manufacturing operations and fosters an environment of teamwork and continuous improvement. Responsible for the development of employees, quality and quantity of products, manufacturing costs, proper methods and tooling applications, effective utilization of production hours, skills, machines, technology and facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures consistency in processes and procedures between all shifts. Works with Production Supervisors to coordinate subordinate training, improvement initiatives, and production requirements.
  • Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems by facilitating and supporting team efforts to identify problems and implement corrective actions. Recognizes team achievements and celebrates successes.
  • Balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas to achieve realization of estimated costs; on-time delivery of materials and information; improved productivity and workflow; and reduction in errors and rework costs.
  • Manages departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required. Work with Engineering and Preproduction Departments to clarify or make any necessary adjustments as required.
  • Participates in new product contract reviews and assists the Preproduction Department with estimated production times and realization of estimated times, or develops direct reports to delegate this responsibility to.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and participate in weekly production meetings.
  • Maintains, stores and requests dies, fixtures, and supplies necessary to meet production schedule.
  • Ensures equipment is in good operating condition and all preventative maintenance has been performed. Coordinates repairs and scheduled maintenance with Maintenance Department as required.
  • Schedule and attend regular meetings with staff covering current production levels, safety, work environment and quality issues.
  • Recommends and implements new capital equipment and ideas to improve quality, production, processes, or working conditions.
  • Studies production schedules and sales forecasts, reviews work center loads and sets priorities for leadpeople to execute during daily operations through staff and work center assignments.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices and contributes to a positive work environment.
  • Set clear expectations, provide necessary tools to meet expectations and hold co-workers accountable.
  • Coordinates all cross functional departmental activities that are staffed on all shifts.
  • Recognize team achievements and celebrate successes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field; or three to five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years experience working in a metal fabrication environment.
  • Previous experience in supervising the work of others.
  • Experience which demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and processes supervised.
  • Experience which demonstrates working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and Advanced Manufacturing Techniques.
