ZEISS is a leading innovator in the field of microscopy and is growing rapidly to enhance the use of artificial intelligence for image analysis. We are excited to offer a year-long internship opportunity for junior and senior STEM undergraduate students passionate about AI-driven data analysis in the field of neuroscience. As a NeuroInsight Intern, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team, contributing to groundbreaking projects that bridge the gap between AI technology and microscopic exploration of the brain. The ideal candidate will have strong coding skills, preferably in Python, and some laboratory experience. Interns will be paired with an expert mentor and focus on creating a solution for an identified neuroscience microscopy analysis need as their main project.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Successful completion of technical training to acquire a rudimentary knowledge of Zeiss microscopy in the neuroscience field and proficiency in existing ZEISS software including ZEN and Arivis.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including neuroscientists, data scientists, and software engineers, to develop an innovative solution for the identified project.
  • Utilize advanced algorithms and machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret neuroscience microscopy images.
  • Create a reproducible workflow to satisfy the identified project goal.
  • Deliver an end of program presentation to peers, mentors, and management.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Experience and Education Requirements:

  • Junior or Senior undergraduate status with a focus on computer science, neuroscience, or a related field.
  • Strong coding skills, particularly in languages such as Python, Java, or MATLAB.
  • Previous laboratory experience in neuroscience or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated interest in AI and data science through coursework or personal projects.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Good communication skills, able to converse readily in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Hands-on experience in cutting-edge AI-driven neuroscience research.
