The Opportunity

Our Land Development team is hiring! Our team has a variety of projects- with local and national homebuilders and developers, to commercial projects under 1-acre to 100s of acres (industrial, retail, multifamily, etc.) Our staff also receives training in all facets of project design: site design, grading, stormwater management, utility design, and more.

The Assistant Project Manager position is an opportunity to work directly with clients and the other project disciplines by assisting an experienced Project Manager. This role also receives mentoring on management tasks: navigating entitlements, client interactions, marketing/business development, scheduling, invoicing, development of budgets, and more.

You will have an opportunity to continue to strengthen your design experience while gaining new management experience. You'll work on challenging projects - learning to navigate the entitlement and design processes on large-scale multiphase developments. This role serves as a transition from Project Engineer to Project Manager. This is a tremendous opportunity for the right person to help continue the expansion of our Land Development team.

Work Location: Hybrid after training phase-- in-office Tuesday-Thursday for team collaboration

The qualified candidate will:

  • Possess strong design fundamentals and deliver complete documents at project milestones
  • Assist Project Managers with design coordination between architects, MEPs, Geotech, and other disciplines
  • Represent Sambatek at meetings with cities, clients, and external project team members
  • Prepare proposals for new project opportunities
  • Manage project scope, schedule, and budget
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to project team staff

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota (highly preferred) or Engineer in Training (EIT)
  • 2-8 years of consulting experience in land development
  • Effective written/verbal communication and independent judgment skills
  • Driven to exceed expectations and win over clients
  • Good mentoring skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to change focus quickly during a typical day
  • Positive and solution oriented approach to problems

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment
  • Ability to occasionally move equipment/objects weighing up to 10 pounds
